4 Best Ways To Handle A Break Up

Break ups are hard on almost everyone and it is a time when a majority of us go through depression. Now my best friend let’s call her Tina happens to be in this situation. Her boyfriend of over 2 years just broke up with her and she says it was out of the blue.

No signs, arguments nothing. Just a statement one morning when she woke up, the guy didn’t even have the guts to do it in person. He went the easy route and sent a text.

Now I know the next question would be would it make a difference if it was in person or not? My answer is no it still hurts the same. The only upside is they don’t get to see you upset.

Anyway back to the story so Tina asks me how someone is supposed to deal with a break up and it got me thinking. So I did some research. I only wish I knew this during my last break up.

So this list is to help you to avoid some of the mistakes I made.

Tips on How to handle a break up

1. Dignity is important.

This is very important you do not want to degrade yourself in any way. They don’t want you anymore it is best to just accept that. Now this may sound mean but it is the truth. It will be difficult to accept it but you also do not want to give this person any more power over you.

It’s best to remember that even though this person does not want you in their life anymore; it has nothing to do with yourself worth. Do not beg or plead for another chance because even if you get one it will never be the same.

You should be with someone who wants to be with you too and not out of guilt or convincing.

2. Resist impulse

This is evident when you start dating someone else immediately after a break up just as a rebound. It may seem like a good idea at first but these things really work out and you will end up hurting yourself again or someone else in the process.

Resist the urge to call, text or show up at your ex’s house or place of work either. This will only worsen the process and delay the healing.

Resisting the impulse to do these things will enable you to process your feelings and heal much quicker.

3. How to handle a break up – Transform yourself

Take the break up as a learning experience. This is a time to learn what you need to work on as an individual for the next relationship.

However, it is important that you do not fall into the habit of working on things your ex though were wrong about you, but instead work on things you think will help you grow as a person.

4. Reject them too

The mistake most people make after a break up is trying to prove to their ex that they are indeed worthy of their love.

Most people want to lose weight, buy new clothes, get a new hairstyle and so on. This is not a bad thing if you are doing it for yourself the problem is when you are doing it in order to prove something to someone.

It is important to remember that you do not want to be with someone who can’t accept you and whose love for you is always in doubt.

This is a new opportunity to find someone who will appreciate you for who you are. Take it as a chance to meet someone new and experience new things. Do not just focus on the negative side, hopefully just like Tina, you will be able to move on.

So these are the few tips on how to handle a break up that I came across. Hope they help you out.
